EDIT: My deepest thanks to for showing me how to do a great rain effect! Resubmitted for your viewing pleasure!! Btw, I tied for 2nd in the contest, so Yay for me!
Here's my entry for the contest over at ! Here is our hero Marko Saaresto from the awesome rock band Poets of the Fall playing as his alter ego from Can You Hear Me and Carnival of Rust. I had to download it as big as possible without my comp going kerflooey so you can see the details of his face. I seem to have succeeded, YAY!!!
I had a lot of fun with this, especially since I began it this morning and just finished about 5 minutes ago, which means it took me roughly 7-8 hours total, give or take.
I don't consider this a bad thing, since I had a completely different idea previous to this one, but it just wasn't working. I was stuck for weeks! Then for some reason this popped in my head when I got to work at 9am. Perhaps it was because I was listening to a whimsical piece of classical music having to do with a river. (EDIT: It was The Moldau, by Bedřich Smetana.)
Most people know that Marko loves the rain. When I met the Poets again back in 2009, he mentioned to me that he was a bit of a storm buff, asking me about Wisconsin's weather. (We're part of Tornado Alley! Woo-hoo!) So I was thinking of that today, not to mention we've had quite a few storms lately anyway.
Oh, I cannot even explain the feeling... There was a storm in Lviv when our guys were preparing to start. How could you know? "Do you remember who we are? Yes, Poets of the Fall..." Aww
They said that, huh? Awesome. As for the stormy stuff, well, it's suddenly Summer at last here, and with the speed of the changing patterns comes violent weather, so it was already on my mind.
